Data deletion

This page explains how to have your data deleted from CrankPal. The route depends on how you use the service: pick the case that applies to you. The data controller is CrankPal S.r.l. (Via Benedetto Marcello, 6 – 20124 Milano, Italy); your rights are described in the privacy policy (§ 7 and § 8).
1. You are a cyclist with a CrankPal account
You can delete your account yourself, at any time, without writing to us:
- in the CrankPal app: “Profile” tab → “Delete account and data”;
- in the customer area on the web: “Account and personal data” box → “Delete my account”.
We ask for your password to confirm, and the deletion starts immediately. Your profile, bikes, messages, upcoming appointments and recorded activities are deleted: this cannot be undone. If you want to keep a copy, use “Export my data” first; you will find it in the same place.
What remains. Documents already issued (invoices and receipts) stay with the workshops that issued them, which are required by law to keep them (as a rule, 10 years). Usage data that has already been anonymised or aggregated is no longer personal data and cannot be traced back to you.
If you can no longer sign in to your account, write to privacy [at] crankpal.com from the email address you registered with.
2. You are a workshop, or part of its staff
Workshop administrator. To close the workshop's account, write to privacy [at] crankpal.com from the administrator's email address. At your choice we return all the data processed on your behalf (a complete export in a structured, commonly used format) and/or erase it, including existing copies, as set out in Chapter IX of the data processing agreement. Only the data we are required by law to keep remains (tax documents and invoices: as a rule, 10 years), and it is processed for that purpose alone.
Workshop staff. When your relationship with the workshop ends, the administrator deactivates your access. To obtain a copy of your personal data or ask for its deletion, write to privacy [at] crankpal.com.
3. You connected WhatsApp to CrankPal
If your workshop connected its WhatsApp Business number with “Connect with WhatsApp” (Facebook Login), you can revoke the connection at any time:
- From the workshop software: “Settings” → “Integrations” → WhatsApp → “Disconnect”. CrankPal stops receiving that number's messages and deletes the access credentials it had stored.
- From the WhatsApp Business app, if the number is also linked to the phone: “Settings” → “Account” → “Business Platform” → “Disconnect account”. This is the step that detaches the number from the platform.
- From Facebook: in your account settings, under “Business integrations”, you can remove CrankPal and the permissions you granted it.
Messages that have already reached the workshop's inbox stay in its records, together with the workshop's other data, until the workshop asks for them to be deleted (point 2).
4. You wrote to a workshop that uses CrankPal
If you contacted a workshop (for example on WhatsApp, by email or by booking an appointment) and you do not have a CrankPal account, the controller of your data is that workshop: CrankPal processes it on the workshop's behalf. Send your request to the workshop. If you write to us (privacy [at] crankpal.com) telling us which workshop it is, we forward the request to it without delay: the decision is the workshop's, and we carry it out.
5. Timing and complaints
We reply to every request within 30 days. If you believe your data is not being processed correctly, you may lodge a complaint with the Italian Data Protection Authority (www.garanteprivacy.it).
